Where is your studio?
My studio is located in my home in Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch). I have a very well equipped studio with room for 2-3 students to work on their projects. I hope to one day have a stand alone studio, but for now, this is just what works. Having my studio here allows me to keep costs reasonable for my students.
How do I schedule?
My classes are available by appointment only. All it takes in an email. I will work with you to find a time that works for both of us. Most weekdays I can offer a morning or afternoon session, and I will have select weekend times available.
Do you work with Gold?
NO!!!! 🙂 I am often asked about projects using gold. I know that people love gold. Gold is gorgeous, however, gold is about a million times the price of silver (which is currently not cheap). I work predominantly with .925 Sterling Silver, some fine silver and, occasionally, some copper or bronze as accents. The good news is that working with silver is not all that different from working with gold. Most goldsmiths spend some time working with silver before moving on to pricier metals. I’ll help you get that process started.
Why take classes? Can’t I learn online?
There are so many great online tutorials and classes these days. I use them myself at times, but I think it’s still important to get a FEEL for metalwork. In my own metalsmith journey, hands on experience in the beginning helped me to understand a lot things that I just couldn’t grasp in a video.
I am NOT crafty, I just want to make something! Will I be able to do this?
ABSOLUTELY. I see students for so many reasons. Some are checking off a bucket list item, some may be celebrating an occasion and some are hoping to start a new hobby or even a job. I was a beginner once too with no knowledge. There are no dumb questions!! Bring yourself and your willingness to learn, and we will make something beautiful!!!
